Google

Disguise yourself as a bot!

Rummaging through addons.mozilla.org for addons, i happen to stumble upon User agent switcher.

Something told me this could particularly be useful (i was actually looking for a addon for switching profiles in FF), googling, i chanced upon this artile: Become a Googlebot, get a Free Pass

This tutorial would mean you can get access to membership only and possibly blocked sites from work and college?

And If editing the registry and all that jazz is not something you want to attempt, here is a website made for just that!

All you have to do, is type in the website and hit enter. you have a choice to be either a google bot or a yahoo bot.

As for usage of the firefox addon “User Agent Switcher“, here’s the method via this forum

Step 1: To set up the addon, click on add, the name your ‘agent” something like enter “google” in the description text box.

Step 2: For the “User Agent” field, put “Googlebot/2.1 (http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html)”

Step 3: Save it, then to acces the plugin, go to tools (next to help on the menu bar in firefox) mouse over Agent Switcher, and select google, surf away. A word of warning, some sites will ban you if they do an IP range check, or a reverse DNS check and your IP doesnt match that of their stored googlebot IP addy or DNS.

The website is a safe way to try this out, compared to the other two methods. uhm last word? Don’t be evil!

Google documents gets major facelift, new features

image Google’s online office suite received a major facelift and now allows users to organize their documents in a folder view. The old layout was replaced with a frame based view, with folders to organize a large number of documents, created and shared with others. Also easy sharing between users you’ve shared with before, and filtering results dynamically along with types are other new features.
