Wake up from hibernation on WinXP

by anirudh on July 18, 2007

I waited to download VB 6 for about 1month only to compile this script that wakes up the pc from hibernation. It does its job well, but it had very little options. This morning looking for wake from hibernation for ubuntu, did i stumble on this nifty little tool - WOSB (Abbrevation for Wake up from Stand By)

Here is a quick screenshot…

As you can see, it can schedule wake up events from standby, hibernate and monitor off modes and run a program as well. This is particularly useful for me, because i have to schedule my downloads between 2am and 8 am.

Although i still haven’t solution for connecting to net after wake up from hibernation because I dial to connect. ;/

So here is the usage guide. Download WOSB from here. and Here is a user experience post :) Happy power saving!

Hello! :D First of all i would like to say thanks for the backlink, i really appreciate it :D

Also, for the autoconnection issue, i suggest that you try to save your password and tick the connect automatically checkbox (On the dial up prompt) and then open a webpage such as http://google.com with WOSB . Not sure if that would work for you but it works with my broadband connection.

However getting the downloads to start is a bit trickier. you might try scripting something (with autoit for example) To simulate you clicking on the resume button… or maybe you already solved that part of the problem? :D

Anyway, hope to have helped! :D

p.s. by the way your screenshot seems to be dead… you can use mine instead if you want: http://i20.servimg.com/u/f20/11/39/20/16/35497713.jpg
